Main properties
It is a colorless liquid with an ether-like smell, low boiling point, flammable and toxic with chirality, and its industrial product is a racemic mixture of two enantiomers .It is partially mixed soluble with water and mixed soluble with ethanol and ether. It is formed into a binary azeotropic mixture with pentane, amylene, cyclopentane, cyclopentene, and dichloromethane.

Main applications
It is mainly used to produce polyether glycol (PPG) for further production of polyurethane (PU); it is also used to produce propylene glycol and fire retardants, cellulose, synthetic glycerine, organic acids, synthetic resins, foamed plastics, and plasticizers. The propylene oxide terminal application includes furniture, home appliances, automobiles, building insulation materials, coatings, and other fields.
